Does the sheep reflect the shepherd?

I am pondering on this question. I believe that the fruits reveal the health of the tree. I believe student's report card grades or their learning curve reflects the skill of a teacher. I believe that children's character reflects their parent's upbringing. Of course, it's not 100% reflection, but it the end can give enough hint of how it came about, right? I am asking b/c i really don't know where else to put this thought... do(oes) the sheep reflect the shepherd? Can we know how great or not so great is a leader in ministry based upon the ppl they're been entrusted to teach, pastor, care, develop, serve, and bless? I am questioning myself. I wonder if I am doing a good enough job. I know i'm not amazingly great, but still, am I even good enough? Can I look at character, the life style, the values of the youths that are entrusted to be led by me and know if i've done a decent job. Do I or should i take credit for their accomplishments or their failures? Am i part of their journey that leads toward the valley or the mountain peak? Or are these questions to ask in the first place? Do i have the right to even ask this?
Yeah...well..i am unsure tonite (today). Maybe it'll be clearer later today...  what i do know is that I am not feeling great about being in leadership right now.

sheep are dumb. despite how skillful the shepherd is the sheep will still wander away when the shepherd isn't there. yea, i think the feedback is somewhat accurate in reflecting how the shepherd/teacher/parent is doing. in terms of discrete progresses maybe? but think about god as the ultimate shepherd/teacher/parent. we're so screwed up but that by no means reflects how god is doing. don't be discouraged! you've touched many ppl's lives! go and renew your strength in him, for the joy of the lord is your strength! i pray that god will give you a clear vision.

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Psalm 127:1

that's true. Sheep are dumb. They don't look where they are going. We often don't look where we are going. We mess up too, but we don't blame God. And when our sheep wanders, God won't blame us either. Youth work is not easy. Billy had his share of disappointments. But as we are witnessing, one by one they are coming back. We see the ones coming back to CLL, but we may not see those that end up at other churches. Many of us become like the prodigal's older son. Our hearts is not on the Father's love and provisions. Our hearts are also enticed by the world. We tell ourselves, I'm being "good" but their having "fun".

Yes, renew  your stength and vision in Him. Keep the faith. As leaders, that is where our hope and strength comes from. Obviously you care so much about your sheep. Love is not an easy emotion to handle at times. Being a parent is not easy. God knows, cause he hurts deeply for his children, and his creation. WE ALL LOVE YOU MANNI, YOU ARE AMAZING!
